Senior Advisor, New Mexico

A lifelong New Mexican, former Lt. Governor Diane D. Denish brings the insight of her long history in business, philanthropy, and public service to her work for the firm’s clients in New Mexico and beyond.

As New Mexico’s first female lieutenant governor, Diane worked to improve the climate for small business and entrepreneurship, expand early education, eliminate predatory lending practices, and root out corruption in regional housing entities.

She was instrumental in expanding the New Mexico Small Business Investment Corporation, getting capital and equity investment into the hands of 1,600 employers. Diane also fought for higher minimum wage standards and more efficiently managed unemployment benefits. Known as an advocate for New Mexico’s children, Diane led the successful effort to pass New Mexico’s first pre-Kindergarten legislation and began to focus state agencies on preparing our future workforce.

When the Regional Housing Authorities were entangled in unethical and illegal activities, Diane led the effort to clean them up. Diane also led the Insure New Mexico effort – and today, many of the policy recommendations from that initiative have become law or are part of health insurance reform efforts.

Diane is a former chairwoman of New Mexico First and the New Mexico Community Foundation, and has been appointed by three New Mexico governors to serve in numerous capacities, including as a member of the Board of Regents at New Mexico Tech University.
